ALEXANDER L. HAZEN, ASA, IFAS, is CEO of International Appraisal Company in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey. He has been active in the appraisal and property tax fields for the past 42 years. He is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA), Real Property-Urban discipline, in the American Society of Appraisers, a Senior Member of The National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers (IFAS) and is a State Certified General Appraiser in six states, a registered Senior Property Tax Consultant in Texas, and is recognized as a valuation expert by various appeal boards, state tax commissions and courts in the United States. Mr. Hazen is a past president of Northern New Jersey Chapter 73 of the American Society of Appraisers. He has been an active member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT) serving on various committees, teaching at the Institute’s schools and lecturing at many conferences and symposia. He served as the director of the Property Tax School (1985-1989) sponsored by the IPT. In 1987 Mr. Hazen was awarded the IPT\’s distinguished service award and served on IPT’s Board of Governors from 2000-2003. Mr. Hazen has also served on the IPT Sales Data Committee, Textbook Committee, Public Relations/Promotions, Advanced Real Property Tax School and Advanced Property Tax Academy Committees. He was an instructor at both the Basic Property Tax School and Advanced Real Property Tax School and the Advanced Property Tax Academy. He has authored articles on property tax issues and has lectured throughout the country for IPT and other organizations on matters pertaining to the valuation and assessment of property for tax purposes. He served on the editorial advisory boards of “The Journal of Property Tax Management” and “Property Tax Alert”.
